Michelle Ingrid Williams is an American actress born on the 9-th September 1980 in Kalispell Montana. Her father was a Larry Richard Williams, a stock trader and her mother Carla Ingrid Swenson, was a homemaker.
Williams emancipated from her parents when she was just 15, left school and went on to appear in various television shows and movies like ”Lassie”, ”Baywatch”, ”Step by Step”, ”Home Improvement” and ”Species”. She became known after she starred in ”Dawson’s Creek” as Jen Lindley in 1997. She was a part of the show for all its seasons.
After she escaped anonimity she appeared in such films as ”Dick” (1999), ”Prozac Nation” (2001), ”The United States of Leland” (2003), ”Me Without You” (2001), ”Imaginary Heroes” (2004).
In recent years she starred in high profile movies like ”Brokeback Mountain”(2005), ”I’m Not There” (2007), ”Shutter Island” (2010).
For 2011 there are currently two movies in post-production which star Williams, ”My Week With Marylin” and ”Take This Waltz”.
In 2005 she met Heath Ledger on the set of ”Brokeback Mountain” and they engaged soon afterwards. The two had a baby girl, Matilda Rose Ledger. In 2007 they separated. The news of the death of her ex-fiance came as a shock to her. She released a very emotional press statement and did all her best to come to attend the private memorial ceremonies in Los Angeles and the wake on Cottesloe Beach
